This DPE is an intelligent, highly available, high performance, high capacity disk-array storage system that uses a Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop (FC-AL) interface. Its modular, scalable design make expansion easy when storage needs increase.

Using its FC-AL interface, with simple FC-AL serial cabling, a rackmount DPE can support up to 11 Dell PowerVault? 630F rackmount Disk-Array Enclosure (DAE) storage systems. A DAE is a basic enclosure without a storage processor (SP). The DPE and 11 DAEs support up to 120 disk modules in a single disk-array storage system. You can place the DAEs in the same rack as the DPE, or in one or more separate racks.
