The FC640 is its 14th-generation successor, supporting dual 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 28 cores each, up to 2TB of DDR4 memory across 16 DIMM slots, and NVMe storage support via a universal backplane. The C6420 is an entirely different platform: it is designed for the C6400 enclosure rather than the FX2, and targets hyperscale and HPC workloads with flexible NVMe backplane options.
