LAN on Motherboard (LOM) components provide built-in Ethernet connectivity from the motherboard, freeing up the PCIe slot for other expansions. LOM chips are typically soldered onto the motherboard to provide this connectivity, typically used in servers. Some LOM systems enable the swapping of their LOM module for different ones too.
