Benefits of Juniper Networking Switches

A Juniper network switch connects your IT infrastructure through a single operating system shared across the entire portfolio. Every switch in both the EX Series and QFX Series runs Junos OS, giving administrators a consistent CLI, Python-scriptable automation. This shared OS means that skills, scripts, and automation workflows built on one Juniper platform carry directly across to others without modification.

Juniper offers two distinct switch families suited to different parts of the network. The EX Series is Juniper's campus and enterprise switching family, supporting Virtual Chassis technology. The QFX Series is Juniper's data centre switching family, supporting VXLAN, EVPN, and IP fabric architectures for spine-and-leaf deployments from 10GbE through to 400GbE. As with the wider Juniper portfolio, all Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching and routing features are included in Junos OS with no separate per-feature licences required.

Why Choose Refurbished Juniper Networking Switches from ITinStock?

At ITinStock, we are happy to discuss any bespoke configurations for your Juniper networking setup, whether that's a specific port count, power and cooling options, uplink speed, or Virtual Chassis configuration. Each of our refurbished Juniper switches undergoes rigorous testing, in which all ports are verified for connectivity and throughput, firmware is checked and updated where required, and each unit is reset to factory defaults before dispatch. We can deliver quickly to the UK and worldwide using our courier partners. Our expert support team are on hand to help with any pre-sales questions and compatibility queries you may have.

Complement Your Juniper Network Setup

Maximise your networking investment with these complementary IT components:

  • Components Whether you’re in need of CPU, memory (RAM) or RAID controllers, we have plenty of IT components to complement the server your Juniper network switch will be connected to.
  • Network Transceivers Take a look at compatible SFP, SFP+, QSFP+, and QSFP28 transceivers and DAC cables for copper and fibre connectivity at 1GbE, 10GbE, 25GbE, 40GbE, and 100GbE speeds.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Juniper networking switch series do you stock?

Our refurbished Juniper switch range spans the full EX Series and QFX Series portfolios, as well as legacy EX models. In the EX Series, the EX2300 covers entry-level access switching for branch offices and SMB environments, the EX3400 and EX4300 cover stackable enterprise campus access and aggregation, and the EX4400 is Juniper's current-generation access switch with multigigabit port options, Perpetual PoE, and IEEE 802.3bt high-power PoE support. The EX4600 covers high-performance campus aggregation with 40GbE uplinks. In the QFX Series, the QFX5100 and QFX5110 cover 10GbE and 40GbE data centre leaf deployments, the QFX5120 delivers dense 25GbE access with 100GbE uplinks for modern server generations, and the QFX5220 supports 400GbE spine roles. We also stock legacy Juniper EX4200 and EX3300 switches for businesses expanding existing Juniper infrastructure. If you need a specific model not currently listed, contact our team and we will check availability.

What is the difference between Juniper EX Series and QFX Series switches?

The EX Series and QFX Series are designed for different parts of the network, though both run Junos OS. The EX Series is Juniper's campus and enterprise switching family, optimised for access-layer and aggregation deployments where PoE, user device connectivity, and Virtual Chassis stacking are priorities. EX Series switches scale from 1GbE access ports up to 100GbE uplinks depending on the model. The QFX Series is Juniper's data centre switching family, optimised for top-of-rack server and storage connectivity, spine-and-leaf fabrics, and high-throughput environments. QFX switches support advanced data centre protocols including VXLAN and EVPN for software-defined networking overlays, and are available with port speeds from 10GbE through to 400GbE. Many organisations deploy both families within the same network, using EX switches for campus access and aggregation roles while QFX switches power the data centre fabric. As a general guide: if you are networking end users, phones, and access points, EX is the right family; if you are networking servers, storage, and building data centre fabrics, QFX is the right choice.

Which Juniper switches support Virtual Chassis stacking, and how many units can be stacked?

Juniper Virtual Chassis technology is supported across the EX Series and select QFX models. The EX4300 and EX4400 support Virtual Chassis configurations of up to 10 member switches, each operating as a single logical device with one management IP address, one configuration, and one control plane. The EX2300 supports Virtual Chassis of up to 4 members. The EX4600 supports Virtual Chassis of up to 10 members and can also be combined with EX4300 switches in a mixed Virtual Chassis. On the QFX side, QFX5110 and QFX5120 switches support Virtual Chassis configurations of up to 4 units. It is important to note that Virtual Chassis members must be of the same switch series in most cases: for example, EX4400 switches can only be stacked with other EX4400 models, and cannot be mixed with EX4300 or EX4600 switches in the same stack. If you are unsure which models are compatible for stacking in your existing environment, our team at ITinStock can advise before you order.

Which Juniper switches support Power over Ethernet (PoE), and how much power do they provide?

PoE support is available across a wide range of EX Series access switches. The EX2300, EX3400, and EX4300 support standard PoE+ at up to 30W per port for IP phones, basic access points, and standard IoT endpoints. The EX4400 series extends this significantly, supporting IEEE 802.3bt (also known as PoE++) with up to 60W per port in high-power mode and up to 90W per port in ultra-high-power mode for demanding devices such as Wi-Fi 6 access points, PTZ cameras, and intelligent building systems. The EX4400 also introduces two particularly useful capabilities for PoE environments: Fast PoE, which delivers power to connected devices within seconds of the switch powering on, and Perpetual PoE, which keeps power flowing to connected devices even while the switch itself is rebooting, ensuring devices such as IP phones and access points are never unnecessarily interrupted. Our team at ITinStock can help identify the right model for your PoE requirements.
