F5 Networking Switch

F5 networking switches intelligently direct data traffic between multiple devices. F5 BIG-IP appliances also differ from a traditional Ethernet switch by being an Application Delivery Controller (ADC that manages how traffic is received and secured. If you're after networking equipment for your data centre, F5 has you covered.

At ITinStock, we stock a range of high-quality new and refurbished F5 networking switches, including various Local Traffic Managers. Why not browse our selection below, or contact our team for further assistance?

Benefits of F5 Networking Switches

F5 networking equipment covers F5 BIG-IP appliances, which makes sure your applications stay fast, available, and reachable regardless of traffic volume or server failures. That's because the BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM) module handles load balancing, distributing incoming requests intelligently across a pool of servers so that no single server is overwhelmed, and automatically redirecting traffic away from any server that becomes unavailable. BIG-IP appliances also perform SSL offloading, taking over the work of encrypting and decrypting HTTPS traffic from your application servers, freeing server CPU for application processing.

The iSeries platform has F5's TurboFlex FPGA technology, which accelerates workloads, including Layer 4 connection offload, DDoS mitigation, and SSL processing, delivering significantly higher throughput than software-only alternatives. Meanwhile, the newer F5 rSeries platform is designed for modern, cloud-connected environments. Built on an API-first architecture with a microservices-based software layer called F5OS, rSeries delivers up to twice the performance of equivalent iSeries appliances. Both iSeries and rSeries appliances ship with hot-swappable components, redundant power supplies, and always-on baseboard management controller (BMC) support for resilient, carrier-grade availability.

Why Refurbished F5 Networking from ITinStock?

At ITinStock, we are happy to discuss any bespoke configurations for your F5 networking setup. Each of our refurbished F5 networking controllers and equipment undergoes rigorous testing, in which all ports are verified for connectivity and throughput, firmware is checked and updated where required, and each unit is reset to factory defaults before dispatch. We can deliver quickly to the UK and worldwide using our courier partners. Our expert support team are on hand to help with any pre-sales questions and compatibility queries you may have.

Complement Your F5 Network Setup

Maximise your F5 networking with these IT components:

  • Components Whether you’re in need of CPU, memory (RAM) or RAID controllers, we have plenty of IT components to complement the server your F5 network switch will be connected to.
  • Network Transceivers Take a look at compatible SFP, SFP+, QSFP+, and QSFP28 transceivers and DAC cables for copper and fibre connectivity at 10GbE, 25GbE, 40GbE, and 100GbE speeds.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Application Delivery Controller, and is F5 BIG-IP different?

A network switch connects devices together and directs traffic between them at the port level, based on MAC addresses and IP routing. An Application Delivery Controller (ADC) like the F5 BIG-IP works at a higher level: rather than routing traffic between devices, it sits in front of a group of application servers and manages how incoming requests are distributed across them. This is called load balancing. If one server becomes overloaded or fails, the BIG-IP automatically redirects traffic to the remaining healthy servers, keeping the application available to end users without any manual intervention. Beyond load balancing, BIG-IP also handles SSL offloading (decrypting and re-encrypting HTTPS traffic on behalf of the servers, reducing their CPU load), web application firewalling (filtering malicious HTTP and HTTPS requests before they reach the servers), global server load balancing across multiple data centre sites, and TCP and HTTP connection optimisation. In short, a network switch keeps your devices communicating with each other, while an F5 BIG-IP keeps your applications fast, available, and secure for the end users accessing them.

What is the difference between F5 BIG-IP iSeries and rSeries?

The iSeries and rSeries are two generations of F5 BIG-IP hardware platform, each running a different underlying software architecture. The iSeries runs F5's TMOS (Traffic Management Operating System), which is the long-established BIG-IP OS with a mature feature set covering all BIG-IP modules including LTM, AWAF, DNS, APM, and more. The iSeries uses F5's TurboFlex FPGA technology for hardware-accelerated SSL processing, DDoS mitigation, and Layer 4 offload, and is available from the i2000 series for SMB and mid-market deployments through to the i15000 series for large enterprise and service provider environments. The rSeries is F5's next-generation platform, running F5OS (a new microservices-based software layer) and supporting both current BIG-IP software and the newer BIG-IP Next application stack side by side on the same appliance. The rSeries delivers approximately twice the throughput of equivalent iSeries platforms and adds native multi-tenancy, an API-first management architecture, and deeper automation toolchain support. For organisations running existing BIG-IP configurations, the iSeries remains a proven and cost-effective platform available at a significant saving refurbished. For organisations building new deployments or modernising infrastructure, the rSeries offers a more future-ready foundation.

How quickly can you deliver?

UK deliveries typically arrive next day via DHL Express or FedEx. We also offer European and international shipping with delivery timeframes varying by destination. Smaller pieces of IT hardware, such as components, ship quickly whilst larger items may require additional handling time. We are happy to discuss more specific delivery estimates based on your location. We can even same day items for the most urgent requirements!

What warranty do you offer on refurbished networking equipment?

All refurbished networking equipment includes a 3-year warranty. Extended warranty options are available for organisations requiring longer coverage periods or enhanced support levels. Our warranty ensures you receive reliable, tested equipment with expert advice backing your investment. Warranty terms cover hardware failures and defects, which will be replaced wherever possible if our technicians cannot help diagnose and fix any hardware related issues you have throughout the coverage period.
