What Mellanox networking switch series do you stock?
Our refurbished Mellanox switch range spans the Spectrum, Spectrum-2, and Spectrum-3 generations.

In the SN2000 Series, the SN2010 provides an 18-port 25GbE plus 4-port 100GbE half-width 1U option well suited to smaller deployments, the SN2100 provides 16 ports of 100GbE in a compact 1U chassis, and the SN2410 and SN2700 provide 48-port 25GbE and 32-port 100GbE configurations respectively for standard top-of-rack deployments.

In the Spectrum-2 SN3000 Series, the SN3420 and SN3800 offer dense 25GbE and mixed 100GbE and 400GbE configurations for high-performance leaf and spine roles.

In the Spectrum-3 SN4000 Series, the SN4600 and SN4700 support up to 64 and 32 ports of 400GbE respectively, designed for spine and super-spine roles in cloud-scale and AI data centre fabrics.

What is RoCE, and which Mellanox switches support it?
RoCE stands for RDMA over Converged Ethernet. RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access) allows one server to read from or write directly to the memory of another server without involving either server's CPU or operating system, which dramatically reduces latency and CPU overhead for workloads that transfer large amounts of data rapidly between nodes. RoCE brings this capability to standard Ethernet networks, making it particularly important for AI and machine learning training clusters (where GPU nodes exchange large model gradients between each other continuously), NVMe over Fabrics storage environments, and high-performance computing.

All Mellanox Spectrum switches support lossless Ethernet for RoCE using Priority Flow Control (PFC) and Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN), both of which are required to prevent packet drops that would otherwise degrade RoCE performance. Mellanox Spectrum switches are designed to pair with Mellanox ConnectX NICs in the servers, which provide the RDMA capability at the host side for a complete end-to-end RoCE fabric.

What environments are Mellanox switches suitable for?
Mellanox Spectrum switches are designed and optimised specifically for data centre environments. They are fixed-configuration, 1U or 2U rack-mount switches with QSFP and SFP28 ports for fibre connectivity, and they do not support Power over Ethernet or the copper RJ45 access ports typically needed for connecting end-user devices, IP phones, and wireless access points in office and campus environments. They are best suited to roles such as top-of-rack server connectivity, storage fabric interconnect, spine-and-leaf data centre fabrics, and HPC or AI cluster networking. If you are looking for switches for an office, branch, or campus environment with PoE and copper access ports, our Cisco, HPE Aruba, Juniper, or Dell networking switch ranges would be more appropriate.
