The Dell PowerEdge R740XD is a high-performance 2U rack server designed for demanding workloads. It supports up to 2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors (1st or 2nd generation) and features 24 DIMM slots for DDR4 ECC RDIMM/LRDIMM memory, with a maximum capacity of up to 3TB.

Storage capabilities include 12 hot-plug 3.5" SAS/SATA front drive bays and 4 hot-plug 2.5" SAS/SATA rear flex bays, enabling versatile storage configurations. The server comes without a PERC RAID controller installed, allowing customisation to specific needs.

Management is facilitated by the iDRAC9 Enterprise interface, with networking options including an OCP 3.0 Network Daughter Card slot and a dedicated 1GbE iDRAC management port.
